Window Covering Maintenance Tips
At SP Floors & Design Center, we carry easy-to-maintain window coverings that homeowners and business owners can quickly clean for sparkling spaces. Follow these best practices to keep your blinds, shutters, shades, and coverings free of dust, pet dander, and other allergens. Remember to use as little moisture as needed, and keep those affected by allergies out of the room during cleaning:
- Avoid using water, solvents or abrasive cleaners on wood blinds, shutters, and window coverings.
- To most effectively remove dust or debris from hard-to-reach areas on honeycomb, window shades, and shadings, try using a hair dryer on a cool setting or compressed air purchased from an office supply store.
- We do not recommend power washing your window coverings. If you want a professional deep clean, consider hiring out for water immersion, ultrasonic cleaning, steam cleaning, or extraction cleaning from licensed professionals.
- If your aluminum and vertical vinyl blinds have not been specially treated to guard against static electricity and dust, you can wipe them down with anti-static dryer sheets to clean them effectively.
- Use a soft damp cloth to clean wood-look blinds and shutters.
